Bishophill

The clients love the city centre location of their terraced house, but require more sociable spaces for their family.

Planning permission had already been granted for a rear dormer, but the logistics didn't work, so we redesigned the space with a new staircase, ensuite and master bedroom.

On the ground floor, a small rear extension combined with an internal reconfiguration maximises the useable space and enhances the connection with the courtyard garden. A fixed seating area within the kitchen, combined with an island, creates flexible and sociable spaces. The former dining room is now a music room and home office, allowing the clients to bring their much loved piano out of storage.

Through the reconfiguration of existing spaces, combined with a small extension, the family have the spaces they need for socialising, relaxing and playing.
